Buyinbin Aboriginal Corporation

About us

Buyinbin Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation dedicated to strengthening the wellbeing, independence, and cultural identity of Aboriginal community Casino, NSW, through culturally grounded programs and services. With a strong commitment to community-led outcomes, Buyinbin delivers support across housing, cultural connection, and holistic support services that empower individuals, families, and communities to thrive.

Our Story

Established in 1975, Buyinbin was born from a vision to create safe homes, strong families, and self-sufficient communities on Bundjalung Country. Based in Djanangmum/Casino in the Northern Rivers, we are a Bundjalung-led organisation committed to addressing the ongoing housing challenges experienced by Aboriginal families through culturally grounded, community-designed solutions.

Our story is shaped by the strength of our people, the importance of staying connected to Country, and the belief that housing is more than just shelter, it is the foundation for healing, belonging, and opportunity. Through deep community consultation, yarning circles, and the guidance of Elders, Buyinbin was created to respond to the real needs of local Aboriginal families, with a focus on long-term housing security, cultural safety, and generational wellbeing.

We are building a future where Aboriginal families can remain on Country with dignity, surrounded by culture, kinship, and community support.

Our Mission & Purpose

Our Mission
To design, build, and maintain community-led initiatives that strengthen connection to Country, empower Aboriginal families, and foster healing, safety, and opportunity for generations to come for Aboriginal people of Casino, NSW.

Our Purpose
Buyinbin exists to create culturally safe housing and community pathways that allow Aboriginal families to thrive on Country. We are driven by a commitment to self-determination, community ownership, and creating long-term social and economic outcomes for future generations.

By combining housing, cultural healing, and employment pathways, we aim to build stronger families, reduce housing insecurity, and create sustainable opportunities that keep Bundjalung people connected to culture, community, and home.

What we do

Buyinbin delivers Aboriginal-led housing and community support initiatives that strengthen families and empower communities across Bundjalung Country. Our work focuses on developing safe, culturally responsive housing solutions alongside wraparound support services that promote long-term stability and wellbeing.

Our services include:

  • Long-term and transitional housing for Aboriginal families
  • Crisis accommodation for women, youth, and families experiencing hardship
  • On-Country tenancy and housing support services
  • Cultural healing and community connection programs
  • Employment, training, and apprenticeship pathways for Aboriginal people in construction and housing services

Every home and program we create is designed with Aboriginal kinship systems, cultural practices, and community wellbeing at the centre. We believe housing should strengthen connection, not only to home, but also to family, culture, and Country.
